Anchored Demipolyaffection Flag
Anchored Demipolyaffection is a demi relationship style and culture in which one primary pair-bond anchors a wider network of affectionate connections. Affection requires a felt personal connection and care for the person involved; romance and sex are optional. This culture is built on secure foundations, intentional pacing, mutual nurturing, and affectionate physical care. Sensual affection is cherished as the fullest expression of this care, without being required in every connection or interaction. A person who identifies with this relationship style may describe themselves as anchored demipolyaffectionate.
Connections may center on a shared household or span separate homes; cohabitation is common but not required.
The Anchor: One primary pair-bond provides the stable core of the wider network.
The Demi Aspect: In this framework, affection requires a felt personal connection and care for the person involved. That connection may take the form of a deep personality click, sustained affinity, or an emotional or spiritual bond; affection grows at the pace of the people involved.
Polyaffective Care: Every individual in the group shares a baseline of physical affection and care with every other individual, expressed in ways that feel comfortable and meaningful to both people. This shared affection is not restricted by gender or sexual orientation and does not require mutual sexual attraction. Affection takes many forms; head scratches, back rubs, cuddles, and deep conversations are just a few examples. Care always includes practical support. Sensual affection can be platonic and has value in its own right; it need not be sexual or a prelude to sex. At its fullest, physical affection offers mutually wanted sensual comfort and pleasure for their own sake, whether sexual or nonsexual. Nonsexual bonds have value in their own right.
Consent and Fluidity: All connections share affection; some may also be romantic, sexual, or both. Sex is optional and does not measure depth. Consent is freely given and ongoing between the people involved; agreements affecting shared life are discussed openly. No particular act of affection is owed, and consent can change. Changes in the nature of a pair’s relationship, including becoming sexual, are approached with mutual respect and genuine concern for everyone’s feelings. Before a pair acts on a change, they seek to understand any emotional or practical reservations within the network, helping those affected feel heard and validated. The pair commits to regular check-ins and ongoing efforts to understand and ease those concerns until they are resolved or the arrangement is revised. A connection can move between sexual and nonsexual over time as the people involved choose.
About the Flag Design:
∞ The Infinity: Represents limitless connection.
⚓ The ζ-shaped Anchor: In abstract algebra and number theory, the Greek letter ζ (zeta) is commonly used to denote a primitive root of unity, whose powers generate evenly spaced points around a circle. Here, it represents the primary bond as a shared foundation for distinct, interconnected relationships.
☀️ The Sun: “Love is the light that illuminates the darkness, and reveals what you always suspected was there.”
The Colors: In this design, pink represents affection and physical care; green, growth and intentional pacing; blue, the wider community. The background draws on demi and polysexual flag designs; the yellow symbols echo the classic polyamory flag.
